Contractors, All Eyes Are On You!

Have you ever put yourself in your clients shoes?

Yes, we spend a lot of time working on closing jobs and going back and forth with your client. Some our easy to work with and some are clients from hell. But have you really stopped to think what the clients think of doing business with you.

Just think about it, your client would like a fair shake on the price and a detailed contract on what they are getting for there money. But most of all I would think that they would like open communication. You no the times the installer or subcontractor will not be there today and you fail to call your client and they stay home all day and your a no show.

Or maybe they picked out a certain product and when you went to pick it up they had a cheaper version and you thought that you could make a fast few bucks and change out the products without asking your client.

Then you buy it and the client complains that this is all they had. Now you see why clients have there guard up when it comes to dealing with contractors.

Now do not get me wrong there are a ton of quality contractors out there but it’s the few that make it bad for some of us.

Tell me the reason why you need a large deposit up front? Then the money is always ahead of the work? What is wrong with the other way around?

See you chose to be a contractor for a reason, so why not try to always put your client first in everything you do. If you are in it for the long haul ,which I hope you are then building that client relationship should be your number one priority.

Looking threw your clients eyes once an awhile will help you stay focused and help you with client referrals. This is your life blood of your business as you move threw the years.

Also do not be afraid to bring all your employees and subcontractors along for this ride. Because let’s face it they are the ones dealing with your client once you have sold the job and your company.

My father always told me if you take care of your client your client will always take care of you. And there was many of nights that dear old dad would wake me or my brother in the middle of the night to go with him on a service call to fix a furnace or thaw out some frozen water pipes.

Just keep this in the back of your mind? Without clients to work for then the merry-go-round stops. So does the money!

Again, just a reminder to put your clients first always.

Happy Selling
