I would say that this will be the hardest part for a new contractor to understand. Yes, contractor leads can be hard to come by unless you have a few lessons under your hat.
First off there are all types of leads and all types of ways to get them. But, first let’s talk about the contractor leads that are cheap to find and easy to get. Because it can get depressing at times for the amount of work and money you put into it versus the results.
Of course friends and family can be the easiest leads to get and sometimes a good way to practice your skills. But let me put you in a great state of mind on how to think about your contractor leads first.
Your leads equal money and work! So, what’s the first thing you have made once you became a contractor? Business cards right? But I see contractors only use them when they go see a customer. Why? this is your first and least expensive lead generation tool you have. Use it!
Think about how many people you come into contact with everyday? Pass out your business card to every person you come into contact with. Everyone!
Next, come up with your elevator pitch in 30 seconds or less on what you do for a living. So, if someone ask hey what do you do for a living? You have a very clear message and your business card in hand to give to them.
So far we have not spent much of your money yet right? Oh, one more word of advise become a “maven” in your contractor niche. That means be the best and stand out above the crowd.
So, are you going to be just another contractor? Or are you going to go above and beyond on everything you say and do? Will you be the voice that’s heard in the crowd?
These are the little things that cost you nothing but set you on a course to be the best contractor in the world. And it’s all in your mind to decide who you what to be.
Yes, contractor leads are easy to come by when you are the “maven” in your field. Think long and hard because it will shape your future as you move forward in your contractor business.
