Happy New Year to all my contractor friends all over the world! Yes, 2009 was a wild ride for some but for others it was a very profitable magic year.

Was it a sink or swim year for you? Yes, a little personal I know but I what you to think back over last year so that we can look at some bad and some good and make 2010 a banner year for you.
Yes, it’s much easier then you think but it takes one major change that only YOU can make. So what’s the magic change that will change everything?

No, I have not lost my mind. But speaking of the mind let’s take a look at an example to help you see what I am talking about.
My partner Josh as you already know is a seamless gutter contractor in NH. First I need to tell you some exciting news in Josh’s life. Kaycee had twin girls! So congratulations to both of them.
Josh has done well for himself and has carved out a special niche in the gutter business. But he has always wanted to sell more leaf protection with his gutters but has had a hard time breaking into this type of business.
Sure, he sells his fair share of leaf protection but there is one company that he follows that sells the crap out of leaf protection. Now, yes he tried to become a ,Gutter Helmet dealer in his area but it was already taken.
So, talking with Josh one day I said what sets them apart from what you are doing? Well after doing our homework it was simple to figure out.
Marketing!
Yes, they have a proven marketing system with all the tools that work and I mean work BIG TIME. There sales are through the roof plus they can also get because of there marketing that works maximum profits.
Time to Go Fishing?
So, Josh set out to find another leaf protection manufacture that had a marketing system that worked and would cover his marketing area. Bingo he found a winner and did his homework and they just delivered all his marketing materials in 12 boxes to his office.
Now, he has a soup to nuts proven marketing system that will propel his 2010 sales through the roof he claims. Josh and I have just started to look over all his marketing materials and yes I have to say it’s impressive to say the least.
I Can Smell The Difference
See, this is what I call a sink or swim attitude because Josh has taken the steps to excel his business this year. Sure he could have just gotten by but he changed his THOUGHT process and decided to move up to the next level in his business.
Sure, will it be a lot more work for him to learn this new way of thinking and to roll this out throughout his company? Of course it will but the pay off will be huge for everyone in his company.
