This is the one thing that can set your contracting company apart from everyone else. Branding is where you can make the real money.
Now let’s think about this for a minute. Look around your town and think about the other contractors that you compete with everyday. What sets you apart from them? If you are a roofer, is your shingle any different from your competitor’s?
I remember when we sold manufactured homes in Florida. We took the same manufacturer that everyone else sold but we private labeled and branded it as ours. How could we do that and make it work for us? We asked the manufacture to design models just for us then we put our own name to it.
So we designed the “Key West” or the “Siesta Key” model or the “Veranda Model.” We made up our own literature and floor plan design and used our name for the model. So if they went elsewhere to buy the Key west our competition had no clue what kind of home it was.
The key was to have the best floor plans and design out there. It worked for us for years and a lot of other manufacturers tried to copy us for years.
So look at your products that you sell and see how you can brand them. Windows are easy to brand and siding would be another one and even decks you could do. With a little thought I think you could brand everything you do.
Landscaping would be one service that you could brand, also. Anytime you have something that you design you can brand it. As a matter fact this type of product is much easier to brand because you are building value into every design.
