You are the leverage in your company, you and only you!

Think about it for a minute, you must be the driving force to get your company to where it is today. Right? You are the one with the ideas,vision,talent, so you must be strong and healthy. Are you?

I like the word vision because most people do not have the talent to understand the vision. What is a vision? I like to thing it’s the future. You are able to look down the road with the vision of where you want to be by a certain time frame.

People that understand the vision and how it works will see there vision very clearly. They can touch it and feel it. It’s so real to them that at any time they can be in there vision. They can see there sales increase by a number that they have chosen and it will be there by the time they have chosen.

They can see that new building they want to build. How many employees they will have. How about that new equipment that they need to get more clients to get more sales.

I can tell you how important it is to have everyone on board in your contracting company on your vision. You must lay it out so that everyone can see your vision and that everyone works towards your vision.

OK let’s get back to the leverage thing. You can leverage your time, talent, recourse’s, knowledge. So let’s look at the most important one of all and that is your time. Most contractor’s waste so much of there time because you do not have a plan for there time for the day.

You should take the first hour of everyday to clean focus.This just means that you pick one thing to focus on only. No phones or people to distract you when you clean focus. Study have shown once you are distracted it can take up to twenty minutes to focus again.

If you need to sit in your truck to clean focus then do it. I know I have done it before. Sometimes you need to find a quiet place to focus. Find that place and keep going back everyday.

Once you learn how to clean focus everyday it will make you more alert and help you make clear decisions and the right ones too.

Set up your day to make you and your company money. If it does not bring you money then don’t do it. It’s wasted time. Try to set up your day in 2 hour time chunks. Once you learn to do this everyday then you will see the time that you had wasted in the past.

You will get so much more done and everyone around you will tell the difference. The main thing you understand about the clean focus is that it will make you and your company better then ever before.

I will continue in future posts because, your time and your leverage is important, but I would like to here from you on how you plan your time in your contracting company. Give me an idea on how you spend your time.
