Now that the elections are over with, our sales have taken off finally. In October we normally get 50-60 leads a day, but we were down to 2-5 leads a day. We trolled along and after the elections the phones blew up with leads.
Contractors all over has seen there sales spike and just in the nick of time. No one likes to lay off good help and not at this time of year. We also have decided to start marketing totally different.
Are plans for 2009 is to only advertise online. We plan on using com cast and our local newspaper online and also setup our own PPC campaign. We also have a very long existing client base that we are going to work this year.
Our marketing cost last year was up there sense we had to go after more work. We figured it was best to do this because so many other contractors sat on the side lines to see what was going to happen. We took a more aggressive approach and it did pay off.
We were able to keep everyone working all summer and into the fall and winter season. We feel our out look for 2009 looks good because of the work flow and projects we already have on the books and the promise of some big jobs to get signed after the first of the year.
I also think that Obama will come out of the gate swinging and the American people have a high expectation of him and all the polls out there feel the same way. I must say I did not vote for him but our country is ready for a change. So I do believe in working with the hand we are dealt with and we will make the best of it.
All contractor’s should be in a positive mood and they should all have there plans set for 2009. You must have a plan to make your business work or better yet have your process map done for your contracting company. I have wrote about process maps before on our blog and I hope you all took advantage of them.
This past year we had the time to tear down our company and make all the necessarychanges to make us a better company. We really did make some serious changes and added some new software to help our work flow better and to make it easier to communicate with all our team members and clients also.
I believe that 2009 will be a great year for all contractor’s as long as they go after the business and have a plan and work there plan. Plans are made to change as you go and you can tweak them as you move forward. Remember if your not moving forward then you are going backwards.
Keep in open mind and work your numbers and work your process map charts and work with your team and make sure that everyone clearly understands the most important group in your company is your sales and marketing team.
Always remember nothing happens until you sell something. So put your plans together to make 2009 your best ever. There are tons of clients out there with a lot of money to spend on there existing homes, so go after the work.
