How to turn customers into clients!
I was at a marketing seminar one time in California for a week learning how to do some extraordinary marketing and one of the features was a class on clients.
The first thing the speaker ask me if I knew the difference between a customer and a client? DUH.
Well do not feel bad because no one else knew the answer either. After it was explained in detail it was pretty easy after that for me to explain.
But let me ask you something? Have you ever had a moment in time where after someone explained something to you, you were like DUH why didn’t I think of that. Well this for me was my moment.
So let me give it to you straight here because afterwards you will never have a customer again!
See a customer is someone that you sell to one time and never again. You no nothing about them and really don’t care.Most of the time you have no information on them, about there family, kids, grandparents, how long they have lived in there home, where they went to school or college or even where they work.
It’s all about just getting the sale and the money. Now let me ask a question? How many places do you do business with and your just a customer? Wow ! Big numbers?
Now, let me blow the lid off about what a client is? Get a drink because you are going to love this. Oh, remember this cost you nothing, but I paid $10,000 and it was the best money I ever have spent. This little nugget once understood is priceless to your contracting business.
Let me explain, a client is Mr. and Mrs. Smith that you take by the hand and you guide them down a path with truly loving care and you no everything that you can find out about your client. You are compassionate about there problems and you 100% assure them that dealing with you and your company is the only priority in your life.
You no when they bought there home and every little project that they have done. You know every one’s birthday, anniversary in there home. You know when they graduated and where. Plus where they both work. You leave nothing unturned when it comes to your client. Nothing!
You must be very professional and compassionate and they will open up for all your information that you ask of them. Because now you are a trusted friend and a company that they want to only deal with.
As long as you treat your client with the up most respect and always do 100% satisfied work you will have a client for life. Oh and there family and friends also.
So think about your contracting business right now and ask this question to yourself? Do I have customers or clients?
Now think about all the places again that you do business with? Are you just a customer or a client?
Do you see the power of the client in your business. Do you think your client will always take your calls? Yes! Will they always read your e-mail promotions or your newsletter? YES! Will they pay more for your services or products? Yes! Will they send you referrals? Absolutely!
So after I learned this little bit of advise I used it on businesses that I dealt with and not one new the difference between a customer and a client. This, if used like I say is the most powerful marketing strategy you can have.
Just adding this to your contracting company can add millions of dollars to your bottom line.
