Does Telemarketing Still Work for Contractors?

I thought telemarketing for contractors was over because of the Internet, but I think I better take another look?

I was talking to Josh from New London Gutters today and we have been working as a test case on some new marketing strategy stuff and he brought up trying telemarketing.

Now I try to stay open minded and my personal thoughts were that with the no call list that this part of the business was dead. But as Josh reminded me about an article he had read that said some of the largest re-modelers still use telemarketing with fantastic success.

So we are in the middle of investigating this old and true “boiler room” marketing system again and see how we can apply this to Josh’s gutter business.

I believe that I will find that some of the older marketing still holds true today and can be adapted to fit our new online marketing systems.

The main thing is that we keep an open mind and do our due diligence and we will keep you posted on what happens.

Josh just did a 10,000 piece postcard mailer with a new graphic design that I thought was excellent but to his dismay he has not received 1 call yet from the postcard.

Now this always blows my mind because I have never in 25 years had a postcard bomb on me like this one. My first thought was that it never got mailed and we are in the process of getting the confirmation from the post office.

If this has ever happened to you make sure you demand proof from the post office when and how many was mailed with dates of incoming and out going dates.

Josh also just mailed 100,000 val-pak mailers and he has already received 5 calls for appointments. He and I look forward to seeing how this investment pays off.

The main thing with all your marketing efforts make sure you track your results and only continue to do what works and do not be afraid to try new things.
