Which of These 3 Marketing Mistakes Are You Making?
1. Wasting Money on Yellow Pages
2. You are not Marketing Online
3. Not Working Your Existing Client Base
So let’s start with number 1 first. If you are spending any money on Yellow Pages then you should no you are tossing your dollars in the trash. Everybody will tell you the Yellow book has finally met it’s match. It’s called the Internet. The majority of your clients young and old are all using the Internet to find you or to get educated on your company or your services.
Yes, you want to be listed on Yellowpages.com but forget the book. Now do not let the smooth talking Yellow Page sales people tell you any different. Go online or your dead. Plain and simple.
That brings us to number 2. Do you market your company online. Yes or No? Yes needs to be your answer because it’s the least expensive way to gain your leads. Now there is a right way and a wrong way to build your web site.
Soooo many contractors like there name in lights and they make there web site what I call a me-me web site. It’s all about there name and all the pretty pictures of projects they have done.
But believe me Google and all the other search engines do not like this type of web site and they will not recognize your site if it’s built like this. The spiders that crawl your site just blows right past all of this and moves on to another site.
Your site needs to be CONTENT rich with articles about your company and your services. Make it all related articles to your type of business. Yes you can have some graphics or a few pictures but make them part of your articles. A great place for some free photo’s is www.flickr.com this is who we use and they have all the great photo’s you will need. And YES I said FREE!
The other thing that the search engines like is video. Plus you can put this on all the video sharing sites. The best place to have this all done for you is at www.trafficguyser.comthese guys have it down and have made it very afforable to do. Just place it one time and it will go out to tons of video sharing sites and this is how you start getting mega traffic.
My last number 3 item is working your backend client. If you have been in the contracting business for any length of time you must have a list of existing clients.
Now think about this? Do you think it’s cheaper to sell to your existing client or cheaper to find a new client. Do you think you can make more money off an existing client? Do you think your existing client will shop you for price?
If you have 100% satisfied clients and a long client list then you have a gold mine in your hands! I will bet that once you start working that list of existing clients that you will sell 1/3 of them easily. If you have a list of 20,000 or more then you will never need to have another new client ever if you master on how to work your list.
Even if you have a list of 5000 you can get a ton of work from your list. Most contractors do not work there existing client base. Make 2009 a year of change and do all the above and watch your sales and company soar. This is not expenisve to do but make a plan and work your plan and also track your leads and sales so you can see it’s paying the way.
Happy Selling,
Glen
