What’s the diffrence between buying and selling?

How a relationship starts with either a contractor or homeowner can depend a lot on who initiates it.

sales

I have been doing a lot of thinking lately on the way people are trying to generate sales. And saw another post on a blog and thought i would elaborate on it.

I’m seeing a lot more guys out their cold calling and “chasing down contractors”. I don’t feel this is a bad thing and for some is the only way to get generate any work.

But i do feel that for a long term relationship to work with contractors doing this you have to work a lot harder to keep them and please them. And don’t expect them to not still always get proposals from your competition. They don’t respect you as much as if they had come to you.

And homeowners will act a lot different toward you when you are selling them instead of buying from you.

Any customer will always feel different about someone they called out to buy from then someone that came by to sell them.

This is even more important for companies that don’t actively advertise. By that i mean that it will be a little easier if they see your trucks and advertising all over the place. Then if all you do to generate business is cold call and knock on doors.

People always feel more comfortable buying from people and companies they know.

Good luck
