Yellow Page Ads

by glen on March 21, 2010

Just think about all the yellow page ads you have run over the years. Have they changed all that much from year to year? When you look at the page you’re listing your ad on do all the ads run together? Does yours stand out?

Well yellow pages is out in force this time of year, so let me help you with some advice that will not only save you some money but also give you an ad that will get the phone ringing. I’ll also help you design an ad that will jump out at your client and scream “call me first.”

First of all contractors should have their ad done by a graphics and layout design company. DO NOT LET YELLOW PAGES DO IT. Why do all the ads look the same? You now have the answer.

Use a graphics design company that has experience in construction-type business and make sure they show you their work. This is an important step and it is not expensive to have done. You can have ads designed for as low as $65.00 and that is the basic size ad for yellow pages.

When you have your ad designed always have all your products or services listed in your ad. One more thing to think about is that your yellow page ad sales staff will want to push you for them to do your ads and this is where you need to be firm and make sure you have them designed yourself.

Having your own design will set you apart from everyone else and your ad will stand out for all your clients to see first. Also make sure you always put your web site domain in your ad. Take your existing ad page and make sure your design expert gets a copy so he can get a feel on what he needs to do for your ad to stand out.

Now let me save you some money when you place your ads. If you have ads under several listings it is best to have one main ad under your main niche. Under the other listings just have your company name and phone number [see our display at page number] – you will just pay a small listing fee for each listing.

Make sure you change your ad every year and make it clean and fresh and up-to-date with the times. Markets change every year and so do your products and services. Having a picture in your ad also draws attention to your ad. Finally, track your leads from yellow pages to make sure your ad is working and it pays for itself.

Thank You

Glen
