Making The Sale!

by glen on June 14, 2010

After talking to a lot of contractors around the country I am amazed at how many just do not get it. They all bitch about no sales, but when you ask them what they are doing to get sales they just clam up and blame everything on the economy.

Well I have news for them: wake up and get with a marketing program that works for you. First off if you are not moving forward guess where your headed? Gee then who do you blame?

You must make marketing your number one focus. I am sure you have heard the phrase “nothing happens until you sell something.” Look around you, everything your eyes can see has been sold to you. Your company is no different. You need to constantly market your company and services.

So you have done some marketing and the results sucked? Do not give up, because with the right people guiding you, who speak your language and understand construction marketing, you can make the phone ring.

Yes I know what your thinking: I hear it everyday, that it cost so much to advertise. Well what makes the difference is the how and who you advertise to. See, I do not believe in advertising to the masses. I would even bet you that you do not even work your existing client base? Most do not!

This is the easy way to start and get work instantly. Plus it’s the cheapest form of marketing. Also, narrow down your product selection or service and target them with a call to action.

Contractors like to be all things and sell everything and when the markets are good that may work, but with the housing market the way it is now you need to only sell the highest profit products and services. So do some homework and look at your job costing and p&l some jobs and find the right product or service to promote.

When contractorblab.com goes live on October 16Th they will have a ton of marketing advice for you and they can show you how to put a marketing plan together that works. Their membership site will have video and audio on all kinds of marketing tips that you can watch and learn at your own pace.

Just remember contractorblab.com was built by contractors for contractors. They have put together a great team of faculty members who make learning easy to understand for the construction industry.

Happy Selling

Glen
