Persistence pays off for me after courting a carport project for 14 months. Yes, I finally got it closed after so many ups and downs with this condominium association on Siesta Key Florida.
I really doubt anyone else would have put up with all I had to, to close this project. But, I completed the same type of carport project right next door to this job and I was hell bent on having both of them side by side be our completed carport projects.
After all I have completed 7 carport jobs on the island over the past 15 years and this is how I got my title of “Carport King” because one of my clients called me that in a meeting one day and some how it has just stuck with me.
I have to say things have changed a lot in 15 years and I like to think I have continued to get better and better each year and build a better carport project each time. When I look back over time how our products have changed to meet the demand of our clients and to stay one step ahead of our competitors.
But, when it comes to carports I still think I am the top dog in this race. I would think the thing that help me the most was learning the difference between a customer and a client.
Oh yes, I have done my share of guidance and hand holding on this new carport project but when the board is spending over $600,000 and when they represent 172 residents they had better get it right the first time don’t you think?
I will enjoy building this project and I am under way coming out with 2 new designs along with one having solar attached to the carport roof. This should be a huge hit along with wiring the carport for electric vehicles.
So, stay the course and keep looking for the big ones because the pay off is worth the hard work and wait.
